The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA) announced that Willie, an abandoned dog found on a highway last week, was humanely euthanized due to serious health problems.
Willie, a poodle mix, was discovered on May 19 on I-495 in Lawrence. He was taken to the Nevins Farm Adoption Center in Methuen, according to the MSPCA’s statement on May 21. Later, he was transferred to Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston for specialized care.
“Willie was matted and very thin when he arrived at the adoption center,” said MSPCA Executive Director Chris Schindler. “Veterinarians at Angell found him extremely dehydrated and emaciated.”
