The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) has announced that BX Ranch Dog Park will temporarily close starting June 16 to accommodate a series of long-planned upgrades to its parking lot. The closure is expected to last approximately 30 days.
Identified during the 2019 Electoral Area B & C Master Plan public consultation, the upgrades will improve access and durability. The construction project includes:
- Installing a structural sub-base to enhance long-term durability
- Catch basins to prevent water pooling
- Asphalt paving of the parking lot
- A new dog water fountain and water bottle filler for park users
During the construction period, no vehicle or pedestrian access will be permitted through the parking lot to ensure public safety and efficient project completion.
“We understand the importance of this off-leash area to local dog owners and appreciate the community’s patience during this temporary closure,” said the RDNO. Residents are encouraged to visit other dog-friendly spaces in the region until the park reopens.
