Dog lovers in Coldstream have a new reason to celebrate: Pumphouse Beach will officially become an off-leash dog park, following approval by the District Council.
This new designation will provide pet owners a safe and enjoyable spot for their dogs to cool off and play during the summer months. To prepare the beach, upgrades will include installing a bear-proof garbage bin and a dog waste bag dispenser, plus additional signage to inform visitors of the new rules. The combined cost for these upgrades is estimated at $3,000; however, the district already owns the bin and dispenser, allowing installation within a week’s notice.
Maintaining the dog park will also require approximately $300 per month in staff time, covering garbage collection, condition checks, and beach raking to keep the area clean and safe for all visitors.
