A Delta Air Lines flight en route from Detroit to Los Angeles made an unexpected emergency landing on Memorial Day—not for mechanical issues, but to aid a sick dog onboard.
Flight 694 was diverted to Minneapolis after a dog in the cabin fell ill. A veterinarian among the passengers provided emergency care, prompting the crew to make the compassionate decision to land early so the pet could receive further treatment.
The Airbus A320’s diversion caused a 2½-hour delay for its 181 passengers and six crew members. Delta later confirmed the dog and its owner safely disembarked in Minneapolis.
