After delays caused by irrigation repairs, a cane toad infestation, and insurance hurdles, the Hawaiian Humane Society’s Ewa Beach campus dog park is finally open. The Schuler Family Foundation and Jones Family Community Dog Park will hold a blessing ceremony and grand opening celebration at noon this Saturday.
This members-only park requires dogs to be registered online before their first visit, with proof of vaccinations for distemper, Parvovirus, and Bordatella, as well as confirmation that pets are spayed or neutered and microchipped.
Society spokeswoman Brandy Shimabukuro emphasized the importance of responsible ownership to maintain a safe environment for all users. The grand opening is free and open to the public, with the first 200 attendees receiving a commemorative travel dog bowl.
