Hawaii Doggie Bakery, a local favorite for handcrafted pet treats since 1998, is tapping into pop culture with a playful twist for dogs. Just in time for the highly anticipated Squid Game series finale, the bakery has launched a limited-edition treat inspired by the hit Netflix show.
The new creation, Doggie Dalgona, is a canine-safe take on the traditional Korean candy made famous in Season 1 of Squid Game. While the original Dalgona candy—made from melted sugar and baking soda—featured a delicate shape-stamping challenge, Hawaii Doggie Bakery’s version uses their signature Poi Biscuit recipe to create a dog-friendly experience.
“We wanted to celebrate the upcoming series finale in a fun way,” said Niki Libarios, owner of Hawaii Doggie Bakery. “Doggie Dalgona was inspired by the game in Season 1, but reimagined for dogs to enjoy with their owners. The treat keeps the classic circular shape with a stamped center design and is meant to be nibbled slowly, mimicking the original challenge.”
To mark the launch, the bakery is hosting a “Doggie Dalgona Challenge” on Instagram. Pet parents are invited to share videos of their dogs attempting the challenge, tagging the bakery’s account for a chance to win weekly prizes. One winner will be chosen each week through June, leading up to the Squid Game series finale.
