At age 55, when most people start thinking about retirement, Jack Spencer made a bold decision that changed his life—and delighted dogs across the country. After decades in corporate finance, Jack left the boardroom behind and launched Bark & Biscuit, a gourmet dog bakery that has become a favorite among Hollywood pet owners.
The idea came from a personal challenge. Jack’s Golden Retriever, Baxter, developed food sensitivities, and store-bought treats weren’t safe. “I started baking treats at home because I couldn’t find healthy ones without preservatives,” Jack said. “When neighbors offered to pay for what I called Baxter’s ‘medicine cookies,’ I realized I might be on to something.”
Jack poured his energy into creating wholesome, tasty recipes. What began as a weekend stall at farmers’ markets grew into a full-scale bakery. Today, Bark & Biscuit products are stocked in over 30 boutique pet stores across the country.
The breakthrough moment came at a charity event when actress Emma Stone’s French Bulldog eagerly ate one of Jack’s pumpkin-peanut butter biscuits. Soon after, orders began flooding in from celebrity pet owners.
“Celebrity clients aren’t just a business boost—they’re powerful advocates,” says pet industry analyst Tara Rodriguez. “When their pets love something, they spread the word.”
Jack’s leap of faith not only brought him a new career—it created a brand that dogs (and their owners) can’t get enough of.
