In a disturbing case of animal cruelty, a man in Byndoor tied his pet dog to the back of his motorcycle with a chain and dragged it for nearly 2 kilometers along National Highway 66. The incident, which took place on Saturday evening, has sparked widespread public outrage.
The man, believed to be from Paduvari village in Byndoor, was seen dragging the injured dog from Byndoor town along the busy highway. When concerned bystanders confronted him, he arrogantly replied, “It is my dog, who are you to ask?” However, as more people gathered, his callous behavior was exposed.
The dog suffered severe injuries to its legs, bleeding heavily as it was dragged. Witnesses were shocked to see a trail of blood on the road. The incident quickly spread on social media, where many condemned the man’s cruelty and demanded strict legal action.
Residents of Udupi district expressed deep disappointment, emphasizing that such acts tarnish the region’s reputation for compassion and awareness. The public has urged authorities to impose stringent punishment and implement measures to prevent similar cruelty in the future.
In response, a suo moto complaint has been filed at the Byndoor police station.
