Lubbock Fire Rescue and several city departments worked together to rescue a dog trapped in a sewer drain near the Amazon Fulfillment Center on East Hunter Street.
At around 11:15 a.m., firefighters responded to reports of a dog seen inside the drain in the 1100 block of East Hunter Street. When they arrived, they confirmed the animal was stuck and called for backup.
Additional help came from Lubbock Fire Rescue’s Heavy Rescue team, the City of Lubbock Public Works Department, and Lubbock Animal Services.
“Working together, the teams developed a plan to safely rescue the dog without causing it harm,” said Lubbock Fire Rescue in a statement. “Thanks to their coordinated efforts, the dog was successfully and safely removed from the sewer drain.”
The dog is described as a medium-sized mixed breed. It will be held for three days before being made available for adoption.
