After eight years of loyal service, Oscar, the famous Belgian shepherd of the Hellenic Police, is retiring.
Oscar has been a powerful force against criminals and robbers. Now, he is ready to “hang up” his service vest and leave behind a strong legacy.
Trained by Dimitris Kalathas, Oscar took part in many search, rescue, and patrol missions. He was known for his dedication, precision, and hard work.
Oscar joined the Hellenic Police when he was just two years old. From the start, it was clear he was no ordinary dog—he had a special talent.
One of the most memorable moments of his career was a mission in Evros in 2020. There, Oscar helped strengthen security at the Greek border.
Even in tough conditions, Oscar responded instantly to commands like “Oscar, search” and “Oscar, speak,” showing his remarkable skill and discipline.
