Baxter, the winner of the ‘Bucks Perfect Pet 2022’ competition, has grown into a calm and affectionate therapy dog serving Dr Challoner’s High School.
Originally featured in the competition as a 6-month-old puppy, Baxter stood out among 136 entries. His owners, David and Julia Rouse of Downley, describe him as a “lovely, calm, good-natured dog.”
Baxter is a rescue dog who was brought to High Wycombe from Bosnia through the local charity Pawt In A Storm. In January 2024, he earned his qualification as a Pets As Therapy dog.
Now, Baxter visits Dr Challoner’s Girls School in Little Chalfont about once a week, providing comfort and quiet companionship to students seeking a peaceful break during the school day.
David shared their delight at Baxter’s Perfect Pet win, calling him a “beautiful boy” loved by all who meet him. Baxter is also a frequent visitor to The Apple Orchard Cafe in West Wycombe, where he’s a well-known and welcomed guest.
