In a touching tribute to service and loyalty, the American Humane Society helped reunite retired military working dog Attila with his former handler, U.S. Army SPC Kameron, in Colorado Springs this Memorial Day.
Attila, a 6-year-old German Shepherd, served alongside Kameron for four years, performing explosive detection duties at major events such as the United Nations General Assembly, NATO Summits, and a presidential inauguration. Together, they completed nearly 25 temporary duty (TDY) assignments across the U.S.
Now facing retirement due to health complications, Attila will spend his days with Kameron, his wife, their young children, and two other dogs. Thanks to the American Humane Society, all of Attila’s veterinary care will be fully covered, easing the financial burden for the family and honoring the dog’s years of service.
