A southeast Houston man was reunited with his dog, missing for ten days, after an unexpected discovery far from home.
Covic, a 5-year-old French bulldog, disappeared on May 14. Days passed with no leads until the family received a surprising call from a woman in Chicago who said she had bought the dog, unaware he was missing.
“He’s just like a chill, laid-back kind of dog,” said Luc Nguyen, whose brother Loi is Covic’s owner. On the day Covic went missing, the brothers were distracted opening their garage door when the dog ran off.
“We just thought that’s it, we lost the dog forever,” Luc Nguyen said. The family feared Covic had been stolen. They posted flyers around the neighborhood and shared photos on local missing pet Facebook groups.
Ten days later, their hope was revived by a phone call from Chicago.
“We got a call saying, ‘Is this your dog? I can FaceTime and show you,’” Luc Nguyen recalled. “And sure enough, we saw him. That’s him.”
On an unfamiliar line, Loi Nguyen saw a familiar face — his beloved dog, safe and sound.
