A family in southwest Bakersfield owes their safety to their alert dog, Lulu, after a two-alarm house fire broke out early Sunday morning on Titanium Street, according to the Bakersfield Fire Department (BFD).
Firefighters were dispatched around 4 a.m. and battled the flames for more than four hours. Although the house suffered significant damage, the family escaped unharmed thanks to Lulu’s quick actions.
The fire department reported that Lulu detected the fire starting outside the home and promptly woke her family, allowing them to evacuate safely before the blaze could trap them inside.
