A house fire in Southwest Miami-Dade on Sunday afternoon claimed the life of a family’s pet dog and caused significant property damage.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the two-alarm blaze along Southwest 78th Street near 135th Avenue at approximately 2:30 p.m. Officials said the fire began on the patio and quickly spread to the main structure of the home.
While no residents were injured, the family’s dog died in the fire. The flames also destroyed the backyard and a vehicle parked on the property.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
