A Letcher County pet owner is facing multiple animal cruelty charges after authorities rescued several dogs in distress from a property along KY 588, according to the Letcher County Sheriff’s Office.
Responding to a complaint of animal abuse, a deputy and the county dog warden removed eight dogs from the home. Officials say the animals were found in “terrible condition”, and tragically, one dog was already deceased on the property.
As a result, the pet owner now faces nine counts of animal cruelty.
In a public statement, the sheriff’s office urged pet owners who are struggling to care for their animals to seek help rather than allow animals to suffer. “There are resources and agencies ready to assist,” the statement read. “Let’s work together to ensure every animal receives the care it deserves.”
