Livermore Dog Park Closed After Glass Shards Found in Turf

by Lisa

May Nissen Dog Park in Livermore has been temporarily closed after glass shards and other debris were discovered in the turf, according to the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District (LARPD).

A concerned community member first alerted LARPD last week to the hazardous materials. After additional debris was found earlier this week, officials made the decision to close the park for safety reasons.

The closure, which is expected to last three to four weeks, will allow crews to conduct soil inspections, remove debris, and complete necessary turf repairs. LARPD stated the work is aimed at ensuring the park meets safety standards before reopening.

Dog owners are encouraged to use alternate facilities during the closure.
