A motorbike rider on the Sunshine Coast found herself in trouble with police after riding with a dog strapped to her chest.
Queensland police officers on patrol stopped the 35-year-old woman from Maroochydore on Alexandra Parade. She received a $376 traffic infringement for riding with an animal between her arms.
Senior Sergeant Shane Panoho commented, “We understand how much people love their pets, but it’s safest to keep them off the roads.”
He added that the rider had bought the harness online but did not consider the safety risks. If the dog were to react to other vehicles, pedestrians, or animals, it could cause danger for both the rider and others on the road.
“Even though the dog appeared comfortable, we urge all riders to practice safe and responsible behavior when riding,” Panoho said.
