On May 17 and earlier on May 3, the St. Davids LEO Club, celebrating its 10th anniversary, hosted pet wash fundraisers in Virgil, raising $500 for the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides. The events turned bath time into a meaningful effort supporting future service dogs.
The funds will contribute to the upcoming 40th anniversary Pet Valu Walk for Dog Guides on May 25 at St. Davids Lions Park, which helps provide service dogs free of charge to qualified applicants.
Susan Snider of the St. Davids Lions Club expressed gratitude for the community’s generosity. While most paid the standard $20 fee, some gave larger donations, including one man who gave $100.
Service dogs can cost up to $35,000 each to raise and train, and the Lions Foundation relies entirely on community support, receiving no government funding.
