A disturbing dashcam video shows a dog falling out of a moving pickup truck in a busy intersection in downtown Victoria last week.
The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, as a white pickup truck was turning left from Blanshard Street onto Pandora Avenue.
In the video, originally shared on Reddit, the dog can be seen with its head out of the rear passenger window. As the driver makes the turn and accelerates, the dog is suddenly thrown from the vehicle. It hits the pavement and is seen limping away in clear pain.
According to the person who posted the video, several cars stopped and pedestrians rushed to help the injured animal. “Various vehicles honked to get the truck driver’s attention,” the user wrote. “The driver sped up while turning, and the dog flew out the window.”
Another Reddit user who witnessed the aftermath described a chaotic and upsetting scene. They said the driver eventually pulled over down the block and began shouting, “Pete, get back here NOW!” at the injured dog.
“The dog limped back to him,” the witness wrote. “The man ignored everyone who tried to help, picked up the dog, threw it into the bed of the truck, and drove off.”
No official statement has yet been released by authorities regarding the incident.
