A man was hospitalized after being severely bitten by a loose dog on the south side of San Antonio. The incident occurred on Tuesday, near the intersection of Moursund Blvd. and Gillette Blvd., close to Kingsborough Park.
Animal Care Services (ACS) responded to reports of the attack, which occurred while the victim was walking in the area. The dog, which was unrestrained, attacked the man without provocation. The dog, owned by a nearby resident, was taken into custody by ACS.
The dog’s owner has been issued criminal citations for allowing their dog to wander off-property unrestrained, for the bite itself, and for not providing proof of current rabies vaccinations or a microchip for the dog.
The case highlights the importance of ensuring that pets are properly restrained and up-to-date on vaccinations for public safety.
