A woman was arrested last month after her German Shepherd escaped from her yard and killed another dog in front of a Cobb County veterinary hospital, court records show.
Valeria Vasquez faces a reckless conduct charge. She was arrested on May 18 and released the next day on a $2,420 bond, according to Cobb County Jail records.
The arrest warrant states that Vasquez let her German Shepherd outside on May 10. The unleashed dog ran to Fair Oaks Veterinary Hospital, located behind her home on Austell Road.
There, the German Shepherd attacked a Pomeranian being walked by its owner in front of the vet clinic. The dog fatally injured the Pomeranian by ripping open its stomach.
Vasquez reportedly ran away from the scene with her dog.
When questioned later by an animal control officer, Vasquez admitted the dog had escaped the yard before but could not explain why she did not report the attack, according to the warrant.
