Holly Police Help Disabled Man Give His Dog a Proper Farewell

by Lisa

In a touching display of compassion, Holly police officers in Michigan helped a wheelchair-bound man named Ron say a proper goodbye to his beloved dog, Odin, who was tragically hit by a car in April. Ron, who has faced numerous health challenges, had no family or friends and relied on Odin, his constant companion, for emotional support.

On the day of the accident, Ron and Odin were sitting by the sidewalk outside their apartment complex when the dog wandered into the road and was struck by an unknown vehicle. Police officers arrived on the scene to find Ron deeply distraught, crying beside Odin’s body.

Moved by his grief, the officers coordinated with Pawsitive Care Veterinary Clinic to have Odin cremated. The clinic generously offered to cover half of the expenses, while the police officers and staff pitched in to cover the rest. They also arranged for Ron to receive an urn to hold Odin’s ashes, along with a paw print keepsake.

Ron expressed his gratitude when the officers delivered the urn and remains to him, ensuring that Odin’s memory would live on. In addition to this, the police department is also helping Ron secure a Life Alert system to provide him with emergency assistance when he’s away from his apartment.
