Traumatized Street Dog ‘Terrified’ of Humans Gets Most Beautiful Happy Ending

by Lisa

Some dogs endure such severe abuse and neglect that they lose all trust in humans, making it an uphill battle to help them heal. These dogs often require time, patience, and unwavering dedication from rescue organizations to overcome their fears and experience love for the first time.

One such organization, Happy Doggo in Thailand, has worked miracles with street dogs suffering from starvation, abuse, illness, and more. Founded by Niall Harbison, Happy Doggo has saved countless dogs, offering them a second chance at life.

The Story of Chance: A Dog in Need of Healing

Harbison recently shared a deeply moving story about a dog named Chance, a rescue who was so terrified of humans that she could barely be touched. In a video posted on the Happy Doggo Instagram account (@wearehappydoggo), Harbison recounted Chance’s traumatic journey.

“We found little Chance covered in wounds,” the onscreen text reads, showing images of the dog found on the streets with raw, painful scabs. “She was completely shut down. Humans had never been kind to her.”

Chance was so fearful that she flinched at the slightest movement and cowered in a corner, afraid of any touch. But the volunteers at Happy Doggo weren’t deterred. They knew it would take time and patience to earn Chance’s trust.

A Slow, Steady Journey Toward Healing

In the video, Harbison explains that despite the challenges, Chance has started to heal, albeit slowly. “Very slowly, she’s starting to heal,” Harbison says as volunteers gently reach out to the frightened pup. “It’ll take a lot of time and care, but we’re willing to take a Chance on her. You can do this, Chance.”

The story of Chance’s recovery is a testament to the dedication and patience of the Happy Doggo team. Harbison is committed to helping Chance heal both physically and mentally, no matter how long it takes.

“Our job here is not only to heal her physical wounds but her mental ones too,” Harbison said. “We’re hoping that one day in the near future, Chance will realize we’re here to help. Whether that takes months or years, we’ll be with her every step of the way.”

A Promising Future Ahead

Though Chance’s journey is just beginning, the volunteers at Happy Doggo are determined to give her a future filled with love and comfort. Through compassion, care, and patience, they are slowly helping Chance trust again.

Her story is one of hope, showing that with the right support, even the most fearful dogs can overcome their past and find happiness.
