Chloe the Gentle Giant Still Waiting for a Home After 650 Days in Shelter

by Lisa

Chloe, a lovable Neapolitan Mastiff known for her signature happy bottom wiggle, has spent an emotional 650 days in a shelter waiting for a forever home. Despite her gentle nature, Chloe continues to be overlooked—part of a larger trend where big dogs often face much longer adoption waits than their smaller counterparts.

Currently, over 1,000 large dogs remain in limbo at shelters like PetRescue, which has partnered with Pet Circle to launch a national adoption initiative called “Looking for Love.” The campaign aims to challenge common misconceptions about large breeds and raise awareness about their suitability as loyal and loving companions.

While the initiative has already helped rehome 100 large dogs, an estimated 9,900 more still need families. PetRescue CEO Patima Tantiprasut emphasizes that many people unfairly judge large dogs based on their size rather than their personalities.

“Big dogs like Chloe are often the most affectionate and well-mannered companions you’ll ever meet,” Tantiprasut says. “They deserve the same chance at love and a home as any other pet.”
