Animal control officers are searching for three large husky-mix dogs that are loose in Sacramento’s Natomas neighborhood. These dogs have already injured two pets in the area.
The animals were last seen near Fong Ranch Road and Natomas High School, in the 95833 ZIP code. One dog even escaped from authorities while still caught on a catch pole, raising concerns among city officials and safety agencies.
Although the dogs have not shown aggression toward people, officials say they are unpredictable and avoid capture.
Ryan Hinderman, spokesperson for the Front Street Animal Shelter, said, “These dogs have attacked and killed one cat and bitten a dog being walked by its owner. Because of this, we are warning people in the area to be very careful when walking their pets.”
Residents are asked to stay alert and avoid contact with the dogs.
The city’s Animal Services Department warned, “For your safety and your pets’ safety, do not approach, touch, or try to catch the dogs. If you see them, call 311 immediately with their location and direction.”
Hinderman also noted that people often get bitten while trying to break up dog fights during walks.
The department added, “If it is safe, you may help by closing the dogs in a fenced yard or garage until animal control officers arrive.”
