Sugar Land residents now have access to free pet food and supplies through the newly opened Sugar Paws Pet Pantry. City officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 4 to launch the community-driven initiative aimed at helping families keep their pets out of shelters during difficult times.
The pantry will provide pet supplies twice a month to residents facing financial hardship, said Katy Mock, senior animal services officer and organizer of the pantry.
“Our community has given so much to the shelter over the years, and it’s our chance to return the love by giving it back to those who need it most,” Mock said.
Available items at the pantry include pet food and treats, toys and comfort items, bedding and blankets, as well as hygiene and grooming supplies.
The pantry is sponsored by Costco, Hollywood Feed, and the Pet Supplies Plus location in Telfair.
