Durban Mother and Toddler Mauled by Escaped Rottweiler in Street Attack

A mother and her 3-year-old son were seriously injured after being attacked by a Rottweiler in the Bluff area of Durban South on Wednesday morning.

According to ALS Paramedics Medical Services spokesperson Garrith Jamieson, the incident occurred just before 10 a.m. on Boshoff Street. Multiple emergency calls were received, and paramedics quickly responded to the scene.

When paramedics arrived, metro police officers were already present and had helped rescue the victims. Jamieson said the woman, in her thirties, and her young son had been walking up the road when a Rottweiler reportedly escaped from a nearby yard and launched a violent attack on them.

Both the mother and child sustained serious injuries to their lower limbs and backs. Advanced life support paramedics treated them on the scene before rushing them to a nearby hospital for further care.

Metro police and the South African Police Service (SAPS) have launched an investigation into the incident. Authorities have been contacted for further comment.
