When Lester Holt comes home after a long day — even after reporting from events like the Olympics — there’s one thing he always looks forward to: seeing his dog, Lucy.
Lucy, a labradoodle, has been part of Holt’s family for several years. The Dateline anchor says he and his wife, Carol Hagen, fell in love with her the moment they brought her home. In a 2016 Instagram post, Holt shared a photo of himself holding the small puppy. “Spending last day of vacation bonding with our family’s new addition. Empty nesters no more. Welcome Lucy!” he wrote, adding the hashtag #LoveAtFirstSight.
Since then, Lucy has become a beloved member of the family. Holt later shared how they picked her name. He said it suits her well — and even reminds them of a famous star from a 1950s sitcom.
