Humane officers are calling this one of the most severe cases of animal abuse they have seen. A local dog survived a brutal stabbing carried out by its owner.
Greg Willy, executive director of the Friendship Animal Protective League, said the shelter received a call on Saturday about a dog brought to Northview Animal Clinic in North Ridgeville.
“I honestly could not believe this dog was still alive,” Willy said. “This is one of the most graphic cases where an animal survived such a violent attack.”
Willy said the dog’s owner was responsible for the injuries. The dog, an 8-month-old pitbull named Ivy, was brought to the clinic by the owner for a checkup after the attack.
According to Willy, the owner claimed the dog had an accident inside the house. The stabbing was the owner’s way of punishing Ivy.
The report showed Ivy had deep cuts on her face, running from her ear to her jaw. Part of her ear was also missing.
