Ben Platt is heartbroken after the sudden death of his dog, George. The Broadway star, who had welcomed George into his life in early 2021, shared a moving tribute on Instagram on May 10, expressing his grief over the loss of his “first baby.” George, who was only 4 years old, died unexpectedly, leaving Platt and his husband Noah Galvin devastated.
In his post, Platt described George as “the happiest and most loving boy” who brought joy to everyone he met. The dog, named after artist Georges Seurat due to the tiny pointillistic dots on his nose, had a special place in Platt’s heart. “George saved me a million times,” Platt wrote, sharing how the dog had a unique connection with people, especially babies and children.
Platt and Galvin had only four years with George, and the actor admitted that waking up without him felt “surreal and awful.” The loss has left a deep emotional void for the couple, who called George their “first little family.”
The tribute was met with an outpouring of support from Platt’s celebrity friends, including Brittany Snow, Beanie Feldstein, and Josh Gad, who expressed their condolences and shared their own experiences with loss.
In his post, Platt concluded by saying, “We will love you forever and ever, Georgie. Thank you for making us so happy.”
