A UK holiday park operator has unveiled a unique retreat designed specifically for dogs, offering both relaxation and entertainment for furry companions and their owners.
Away Resorts, known for its multiple locations across the UK—including several in Dorset—has officially opened ‘The Dog’s Frolics’, a dedicated dog-friendly pop-up at Sandy Balls Holiday Village in the New Forest.
This specially designed space provides a refreshing escape for dogs, featuring a tailored menu that includes cooling ice poles, dog-friendly ice creams, and even chilled canine beer. Beyond refreshments, dogs can participate in creative activities like arts and crafts sessions and test their knowledge in a fun-filled ‘pup quiz’.
The grand opening on Wednesday, April 30, was celebrated by none other than Liliput the Maltese, a popular dog influencer with a loyal online following.
Meeting the Demand for Dog-Friendly Spaces
Recent research commissioned by Away Resorts highlights the demand for such initiatives. A survey of 2,000 UK dog owners revealed that 76% feel guilty about leaving their dogs at home when they visit pubs. Furthermore, 72% indicated they would frequent pubs more often if they were dog-friendly.
Carl Castledine, founder of Away Resorts, emphasized the importance of including pets in holiday experiences.
“At Away Resorts, we understand that pets are an integral part of the family,” said Castledine. “With 40% of our guests bringing along their four-legged friends, we wanted to create a special experience just for them.”
Open to All, with Free Dog Stays This Summer
In a further show of commitment to canine visitors, Away Resorts is offering free stays for dogs between Thursday, May 1, and Monday, June 30. Notably, ‘The Dog’s Frolics’ is also open to the general public, meaning visitors do not need to be staying at Sandy Balls Holiday Village to enjoy the facilities.
This new initiative not only caters to pet owners seeking inclusive holiday experiences but also promotes responsible and enjoyable outings for dogs, setting a new standard for pet-friendly tourism.
