Two EMTs from the Venice Fire Department reunited with a 9-month-old husky on Sunday, nearly a week after they rescued the dog following a rollover crash on I-75.
Rebecca Durham and Jessica Jones, the paramedics who responded to the scene, expressed their joy at the emotional reunion. “We’re all animal lovers here,” Jones shared. “If we don’t have kids, those dogs are like our babies… it was a very emotional call.”
The meeting took place at the fire station with the husky, named Poseidon, and his owner, Courtney Dean, along with her fiancé Brandon Clark. Despite suffering a minor hip and leg injury in the crash, Poseidon immediately ran to the EMTs, showing no signs of distress.
“Aww, you’re such a pretty dog,” Jones remarked as Poseidon approached them.
Durham, who first spotted the dog while driving on the inside lane of I-75 the day after the crash, reflected on the crucial moment: “I’m glad I made that decision. I could have missed him.”
Dean, visibly emotional, expressed her gratitude, saying, “I’m just happy to be back with my dog. It’s a miracle.”
