SPAR Hungary and the National Animal Protection Foundation have completed their joint pet food collection campaign, bringing in a large amount of donations for animals living in shelters.
The campaign, called “Paw in Trouble!”, was held for the fifth year in a row. Its goal was to help care for shelter animals and support animal welfare groups.
The two-day event took place on May 10 and 11, 2025, at all INTERSPAR hypermarkets. Over 30 animal welfare organizations received donations from shoppers.
Customers gave more than 8,600 kg of dry dog food, 5,700 tins and pouches of wet dog food, 1,600 kg of dry cat food, 12,000 tins and pouches of wet cat food, and 1,550 kg of cat litter. Many pet supplies and cleaning products were also donated to improve shelter conditions.
Márk Maczelka, head of communications at SPAR Hungary, said, “We are deeply grateful to all our customers for their generosity. Without their help, this success would not have been possible. Special thanks to the staff and volunteers who work hard to make sure every donation reaches the animals in need. This campaign shows the power of kindness and how many people care about animals.”
