Farm to Pet is launching special-edition packaging for its Turkey Chips dog treats to support Live Like Roo, a Chicago-based charity that helps dogs with cancer. For every bag sold, Farm to Pet will donate $2 to the charity.
Live Like Roo offers support and financial help to families whose pets have been diagnosed with cancer. Jackson Jones, founder of Farm to Pet, first learned about the charity during a local pet event in 2022. “I was deeply touched by how Live Like Roo supports dogs facing pain and illness,” Jones said. “These pets give us so much joy, and they deserve all the help we can offer.”
Jones connected with Sarah Lauch, founder and executive director of Live Like Roo. Together, they designed new packaging for Farm to Pet’s protein-rich, human-grade treats. These treats are gentle on dogs’ stomachs and are especially good for sick dogs.
In 2023, the two groups held a fundraising contest where customers voted on which dog would be featured on the treat bags. Turbo, a Pitbull mix, won and appeared on the Chicken Chips packaging. The contest attracted many entries, votes, and donations.
For their second collaboration this year, Farm to Pet and Live Like Roo created new packaging for Turkey Chips featuring two dogs: Junie B. Jones, a Chihuahua whose cancer is in remission, and Mickey, a Pitbull mix who passed away in May. This fundraiser raised nearly $25,000 for Live Like Roo.
The new Turkey Chips treats come in 4-ounce bags. Farm to Pet will donate $2 for every bag sold, and $15 for every bundle of six bags.
“Helping Live Like Roo fits perfectly with our mission to improve pet health and happiness,” Jones said. “We want to make life better for as many pets as possible.”
