A two-year-old girl is being airlifted to Townsville University Hospital after a family dog bit her on the face in Central Queensland.
The incident happened just before 11 a.m. in Dysart, a mining town located 245 kilometers southwest of Mackay.
Police and paramedics responded to the home, and the child was first taken to Dysart Hospital.
The CQ Rescue helicopter arrived in Dysart to transfer the girl to Townsville for further treatment.
A hospital and health service spokesperson confirmed the child’s condition is stable.
Isaac Regional Council officials said the attack took place on private property, and animal control officers are now at the scene.
“Council takes these incidents very seriously,” a spokesperson said.
“The dog involved will be seized and held by the council while investigations continue.”
