Yiwu’s pet supplies sales reached 3 billion RMB in 2024. This figure represents about 15% of China’s total pet supplies exports, establishing Yiwu as the country’s largest specialized market in the sector. The city offers more than 30,000 distinct pet care products, covering everything from food and apparel to housing, travel, and daily essentials.
Wang Sheng, head of Zhejiang Fengpei Pet Articles Firm and Secretary-General of the Yiwu China Small Commodities City Pet (Aquatic) Supplies Industry Association, is a leading voice in the industry. Since entering the pet supplies business with his wife in 2008, Wang has focused on building a one-stop procurement base that now includes nearly 30,000 products.
Fengpei operates as a vertically integrated company combining manufacturing and trade, exceeding industry standards in product design and quality.
In 2016, Fengpei identified a gap in the market for high-quality pet harnesses. Responding to this, Wang led research and partnered with a professional design team to develop several original harness designs. These featured superior raw materials, reinforced thickness, enhanced strap durability, and longer service life. The harnesses quickly gained popularity domestically and attracted strong international demand. Wang shared, “During the peak year, we sold more than one million units.”
This innovation highlights Yiwu’s evolving pet supplies market as it meets growing and diverse consumer needs with quality and specialization.
