Woman’s Dog Killed by American Bulldog, Owner Receives Warning

by Lisa

A woman from Lisburn, Northern Ireland, expressed her distress after her Chihuahua-yorkie dog was reportedly attacked and killed by an American bulldog. Saffron Bustard recounted the harrowing incident, which left her feeling terrified to leave her home. She criticized the local council for what she perceived as a lenient response to the incident, with the owner of the American bulldog receiving only a warning.

According to Bustard, the attack occurred while she was walking her two small dogs, Pablo and Lola, near Bell Lane Park. She noticed a woman struggling to control her American bulldog, which appeared aggressive. Suddenly, the bulldog broke free from its leash and attacked Bustard’s dogs. Despite her efforts to intervene, Bustard found herself on the ground, unable to prevent the attack.

After reporting the incident to the council, Bustard received a letter stating that the owner of the American bulldog would be given a written warning and required to adhere to control measures, including keeping the dog leashed and muzzled in public. However, Bustard expressed disappointment with this response, emphasizing her fear of leaving her house following the traumatic experience.
